Woodwind Maintenance and Repair
Just like anything else, your instrument needs to be maintained on a regular basis. A new student can bend keys just by playing the instrument. Our Adjustment and Regulation services let us check over your entire instrument for leaks and bent keys to make sure that it's in top playing condition. More extensive repairs are also done right here on site, we don't send them out. We also Ultrasonically Clean your instrument. Ultrasonic cleaning uses cavitation bubbles induced by high frequency pressure (sound) waves to agitate a liquid. The agitation produces high forces on contaminants adhering to substrates like metals, plastics, glass, rubber, and ceramics. This action also penetrates holes, cracks, and recesses. The intention is to thoroughly remove all traces of contamination tightly adhering or embedded onto solid surfaces.Adjust & Regulate
Between $65-80
Basic adjustments & regulations are what most woodwinds need to be returned to great playing condition. An adjust & regulate would be appropriate if your instrument is fairly new, played and maintained often and has no obvious signs of damage. This service includes:
- Seal all leaks
- Straighten all bent keys
- Spring adjustments
- Replacing all necessary key corks
- Adjusting key slack
- Replace up to 3 pads
- Ultrasonic cleaning
- Final play test
Re-Pad
$ Varies
A Re-Pad is as it sounds, a replacement of ALL pads on the instrument. This would be appropriate for older instruments or instruments that haven't been maintained. The first step in a re-pad is to completely disassemble the entire instrument. This lets us clean and regulate everything! A re-pad includes all adjustments and regulations as well as a full clean and polish and dentwork.
- Flute Re-pads start at $300
- Clarinet re-pads start at $300
- Alto Sax re-pads start at $600
Re-pads are available for ALL woodwind instruments, call for more information!
